Dystopika Asset Project

Hey choom,

You're probably wondering what this project is all about. In a nutshell, this project was initiated by the CORTEX IMPLANT community and its friends. CORTEX IMPLANT is a Cyberpunk community within the OBEY THE SYSTEM network. For this project, we're creating in-game billboards for the dystopian building game, Dystopika. Why, you ask? The Cyberpunk setting of our community aligns perfectly with the game, and we take great pleasure in providing cool and immersive content to players.

Installation

To use our community assets in Dystopika, simply follow these steps:

  • Download the dystopika-ads folder from this repository.
  • Copy the contents of the dystopika-ads folder.
  • Navigate to the My Documents/Dystopika/ImportAds directory on your computer.
  • Paste the copied files into the ImportAds folder.

If the ImportAds folder doesn't exist, you can create it manually. Once the files are in place, launch Dystopika and enjoy the new in-game billboards provided by the CORTEX IMPLANT and Friends community.

Troubleshooting: Community Ads Not Displaying on PC

If our community ads are not appearing in the game, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Verify Folder Location

  1. Check the Folder Path Ensure that the ad images are placed in the correct folder location on your computer:

    My Documents/Dystopika/ImportAds

    • Navigate to My Documents.
    • Open the Dystopika folder.
    • Confirm that your ad images are in the ImportAds folder. If the folder doesn't exist, create it and place your ad images inside.

Step 2: Manual Import in Game

If the ads still do not appear in the game, you can manually import them using the game's built-in feature:

  1. Place an Ad in the Game

    • Enter the game and navigate to the area where you want to place the ad.
  2. Open Import Menu

    • Press the I key to open the Import Menu.
  3. Manual Import

    • Use the Import Menu to manually select and import your ad images into the game.

Troubleshooting: Community Ads Not Displaying on Steam Deck

If the ads still do not appear in the game, you can manually import them using the game's built-in feature on your Steam Deck:

  1. Mapped Key for Import Menu

    • Ensure that you have mapped a button to the "I" key. For example, you can map R5 (right back button) to the "I" key to open the file browser easily.
  2. Place an Ad in the Game

    • Enter the game and navigate to the area where you want to place the ad.
  3. Open Import Menu

    • Press the R5 button to open the Import Menu.
  4. Manual Import

    • Use the Import Menu to manually select and import your ad images into the game. Note that on your system, D: is the microSD card and Z: is the actual directory.

Transferring Files to Steam Deck

You can transfer files to your Steam Deck using different methods:

  1. Using Syncthing

    • Set up Syncthing to synchronize files between your main computer and your Steam Deck. This allows you to easily transfer ad images in and out of the Steam Deck.
  2. Using SFTP

    • You can also use SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) to transfer files to your Steam Deck. Make sure you have an SFTP client installed on your main computer and follow the necessary steps to connect to your Steam Deck.

Thanks to Benji for the SteamDeck guide!
